Canada's Irish Festival returns for Year 42
Celebration of region's Irish culture and heritage runs from Thursday to Sunday

MIRAMICHI • A long-running festival celebrating the Miramichi region’s rich Irish heritage is back for the 42nd year.
Canada’s Irish Festival on the Miramichi will be held once again from Thursday to Saturday at Waterford Green Park and other venues around the city.
In keeping with its annual tradition, the festival will feature a range of cultural and educational events, as well as musical performances. It will start on Thursday with boat tours on the Max Aitken at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The boat will depart from the Rodd Miramichi River Hotel and include live music from Gerry Roberts.
Friday’s schedule begins with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3 serving corned beef and cabbage and/or a salmon meal from its McCurdy Street hall from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $18 per person. Eat-in or takeout options are available.
Free daytime entertainment will be provided at Waterford Green by Roberts and Audrey Stewart at noon, Gary Cook at 1 p.m., Dram and a Draw at 2 p.m., Rob and Katherine Currie at 3 p.m., Frantically Atlantic at 4 p.m., and The Lamey Brothers at 5 p.m.
