Celebration set for Nelson Hollow bridge
Upper Miramichi covered span is N.B.’s oldest, and last in Northumberland County

NELSON HOLLOW • New Brunswick’s oldest covered bridge will be part of a two-week, province-wide celebration of covered bridges hosted by the Association of Heritage of New Brunswick.
The Upper Miramichi rural community is organizing an inaugural Love Your Covered Bridges Days event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nelson Hollow Covered Bridge, which spans Betts Mill Brook at the edge of the community.
The event will include a barbecue and hot dogs. Admission is free. Local dignitaries have also been invited to participate.
“We would love to have the rural community of Upper Miramichi participate in this year’s celebration by hosting an event at the Nelson Hollow bridge,” the heritage association said in a letter to the community’s council earlier this year.
“We encourage communities to start small and grow their events year after year.”
