City, First Nation sign Peace and Friendship policy
Document approved in December was a result of peace accord signed in 2019

A new policy to support improved relations between the City of Miramichi and its neighbouring Indigenous communities was signed by Mayor Adam Lordon alongside the leader of one of those communities.
At a ceremony attended by city officials and Natoaganeg First Nation members on March 22 at Miramichi City Hall, Lordon signed the Peace and Friendship Policy with Natoaganeg First Nation Chief George Ginnish on hand.
The policy was approved by city council in December and was developed over the past year as part of the city’s partnership with Natoaganeg First Nation under the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ First Nation-Municipal Community Economic Development Initiative.
