MIRAMICHI • Six longtime volunteers were presented with awards recognizing their community service at the city’s annual New Year’s Levee.

Gary Carscadden, Robert Chiasson, Valerie Comeau, Cindi Green, and Maureen Hardie received the city’s Community Service Award for Volunteers from Mayor Adam Lordon on Wednesday at the Loggieville Community Centre.

Faye Hachey was also honoured but didn’t attend the levee.

Lordon said he was grateful to salute several individuals with the city’s most prestigious award for volunteers who have helped make the city a better place.

“Volunteers play a big part in making life happen in our community,” he said.
