Council Notebook: Playground upgrade contract awarded
Funding allocated in this year's capital budget to revamp Carroll Street playground

A neighbourhood playground in the former village of Douglastown will soon receive an overhaul.
On Tuesday, Miramichi city council voted unanimously to award a contract worth $68,756.20, taxes in, to Ontario firm Playpower LT Canada Inc. to supply, deliver, and install new playground equipment and fall zone surfacing at the Carroll Street Playground.
In a report presented to council, community wellness and recreation director Jason Walsh said four submissions were received after requests for proposals were issued and closed in March. Two submissions scored the highest after being evaluated by staff.
