Council passes Creaghan Avenue rezoning
Unanimous vote paves the way for proposed new 15-unit apartment complex
MIRAMICHI • A rezoning to make way for a proposed housing project in the former town of Newcastle has received the green light from city council.
At the May 28 meeting, council unanimously approved the second and third readings of the rezoning of an undeveloped property on Creaghan Avenue from medium-density A residential (R-3) to medium-density B residential (R-4).
Strathadam contractor Brent Baisley requested the rezoning through his numbered company, 709578 NB Limited. He initially planned to build a 14-unit building on the site, next to another new eight-unit complex his company constructed. He changed the proposal during the rezoning process to a 15-unit building.
