MIRAMICHI • Two businesses in the Newcastle Business District were damaged by a fire early Wednesday morning.

Miramichi Fire Department Chief Stephen Melanson said members of his department, the Miramichi Police Force, and Ambulance New Brunswick staff responded to the blaze at 135 Newcastle Blvd., which houses Greco Pizza and Studs and Divas Pet Salon.

Melanson said his department was called to the fire at around 5:42 a.m.

“The main portion of the fire was at Greco Pizza,” he said. “It extended into the Studs and Divas Pet Salon nextdoor. There was some damage to the adjacent building’s plastic conduit covers too.”
