Groups receive funding for environmental projects
Six organizations get total of $378K from Environmental Trust Fund for 8 projects

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - Six organizations from throughout the Miramichi region have received a combined $378,000 from the provincial government’s Environmental Trust Fund for projects planned for this year.
The Department of Environment and Local Government announced $9.7 million on Tuesday for 196 projects across the province, including $378,071 for seven projects in Northumberland County and one in northern Kent County.
The funding breakdown by category included $5.34 million for 105 projects aimed at protecting the environment, $1.05 million for 22 projects focused on waste management, and $3.31 million for 69 projects addressing climate change.
“Individually and collectively, these projects will help protect, preserve and enhance our province's natural environment for the long term,” Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage said in a news release announcing the funding.
“Our government is firmly committed to continuing to invest in innovative approaches that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make New Brunswick more resilient.”
