Housing projects proposed for two vacant lots
Both parcels in Chatham could soon be home to a 10-unit apartment building

Two undeveloped properties in the former town of Chatham could eventually be home to new apartment buildings owned by the New Brunswick Housing Corporation.
The Greater Miramichi Regional Service Commission’s planning review and adjustment committee unanimously approved one-year temporary use permits for the vacant lots on Henderson Street and at the corner of Routes 8 and 117 and General Manson Way to make way for at least one 10-unit complex on each site.
The committee also unanimously approved applications for rezonings and municipal plan bylaw amendments for both properties, with the Henderson one being rezoned from passive recreation/greenspace (PR) to medium-density B residential (R-4). The General Manson site is being partially rezoned from airport-compatible business (ACB) to medium-density A residential (R-3), with the rest being changed to medium-density B residential (R-4).
