Mount St. Joseph adding 30 nursing home beds
New beds announced on Tuesday are in addition to the 30 announced last year
MIRAMICHI • A long-term care facility with a rich history of serving the Miramichi region will soon be fully operational again for the first time in five years.
The Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home has been approved for 30 new nursing home beds on the fourth floor of the Lobban Avenue complex in the former town of Chatham.
Local dignitaries and provincial representatives announced the news on Tuesday while being flanked by Mount St. Joseph representatives and officials from the Mount’s parent company, Catholic Health International.
“This will enable more seniors in the area to access more services in their community,” said Kathy Bockus, the provincial minister responsible for seniors.
“I’m pleased that we can work with dedicated partners like Mount St. Joseph and use the resources we already have in this place to increase the number of beds in the region.”
