Rotary Club presents awards for community service
Local volunteers, Rotarian named Miramichi club's newest Paul Harris Fellows

MIRAMICHI • Three local volunteers and one member of the Rotary Club of Miramichi have received the club’s most prestigious honour for their contributions to the community and Rotary Foundation.
The service club presented Paul Harris Fellow Awards to club member Kevin Forgrave and community recipients Doug Cooling, Stacey Verner, and Jamie Keays at a ceremony on Thursday at the Miramichi Golf and Country Club, with Keays being recognized posthumously.
The award pays tribute to Rotary founder Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who launched the organization in 1905 as a service club for local professionals. It acknowledges individuals who contribute, or have donations made in their name, of at least $1,000 to Rotary International or the Rotary Foundation.
Every year, the Miramichi club salutes at least one Rotarian and at least one member of the community. Donations made in honour of Thursday’s recipients will support PolioPlus, Rotary’s worldwide polio eradication initiative.
