Sports Notebook: Wolves forward signs with Concordia
Jacob Lafontaine joining Stingers ahead of the 2025-26 RSEQ men’s hockey campaign

MIRAMICHI • One of the Miramichi Timberwolves’ graduating players from the 2024-25 campaign will suit up for a post-secondary squad in his home province next season.
Jacob Lafontaine has committed to the Concordia Stingers in Montreal for the 2025-26 season.
The 21-year-old forward’s signing with the Stingers — of the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec — was announced earlier this year in a news release.
Lafontaine, of Trois-Rivieres, Que., joined the Wolves last year after spending three seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League with the Shawinigan Cataractes and Chicoutimi Saguenéens. He recorded 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) in 183 regular-season games in the Q and added five points (one, four) in 29 playoff appearances.
The six-foot, 184-pound skater registered 59 points (30, 29) in 49 games with Miramichi last year. He had seven assists in five playoff games with the Wolves.
Lafontaine’s younger brother, Mathis, was also the Wolves’ rookie backup netminder last year. The 19-year-old posted an 11-5-2 win-loss mark, a .900 save percentage, and a 3.64 goals-against average in 21 games last season.
