Seventh individual recipient omitted from the original list of recipients in error

MIRAMICHI - A seventh person whose name was omitted from the list of recipients originally approved by city council will receive the Freeman of the City Award this week for her community service.

At the June 17 meeting, council unanimously approved Janet Creighton’s nomination for the award. She’ll be saluted alongside the other recipients at a ceremony on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Rodd Miramichi River Hotel.

In a report presented to council, city manager Mike Noel said the nominating party behind Sheree Allison and Miramichi Big Brothers Big Sisters had also included Creighton in their submission.

“When the nominations were transcribed to municipal records, the name of Janet Creighton was, in error, omitted,” he said in his report.
